Farm Life – Borderline Crazy

Ryley

Border Collie dogs are like potato chips – you can’t just have one or two. Or even three or four.  Some people can’t even stop at five…some people (not looking in the mirror) are borderline crazy (or bordering on insane – take your pick) and end up with SIX Border Collies.

Now in my defence, I have tried to work with Trinity for two years, but she is definitely my husbands dog and simply will not work sheep for me.  Which is a problem when I am the one that has to work the sheep, and the sheep happen to be Dorpers which are heavy movers (not flighty and easy to move like merino’s) and will stand up to you and actually ram you and nearly break your leg when they connect – don’t ask me how I know that!

So while we had planned on just getting *one* more pup for our son – there was no way I was leaving without the gorgeous split faced tri-colour pup now firmly ensconced in my heart.  Luckily my husband was of the same opinion 🙂

These pups come from very strong working lines, bred for stock working ability, so are not the traditional long haired Border Collie like my old boy Taj. But still very good inspiration for more paintings!
