Farm Life – Cows Sheep and a Pony

Curious cow photograph

The farm is feeling rather empty at the moment with only the horses, the two cows Matilda and Bangers and our two pet sheep Inky and Angel being the only livestock we have left.  Well we still have the ducks and chickens, but they are technically poultry not livestock.  Bangers has grown huge, much bigger than Holly his pure Jersey mother was.  Even though Bangers hasn’t been handled at all, he has Holly’s sweet temperament and is friendly enough to give him a scratch on the head and always comes up to investigate at dinner time.

I love the expression on his face – definitely reference material for a cow painting in the future!

Although I do miss having more sheep and cows around, it certainly does make it much easier with the lack of water and having to feed out hay to the farm animals every day.  With the awful heat and lack of rain that seems to be continuing forever, that is at least one less thing to worry about.

Inky, the one of a kind Border Collie coloured Dorper Sheep – with another expression worth immortalising as a sheep painting in the future!
