Farm Life – A Calf is Born

At 2:30 am this morning Holly delivered a healthy bull calf.  Well, technically that should be ‘we’ delivered a healthy bull calf.  She went into labour yesterday evening, but failed to progress after the first sac appeared.  The calf was stuck with one foot presenting first at an odd angle and his great big head twisted to the side. Farm Life – Newborn Calves

We have had some excitement this week on the farm with both of our Dexter Cows, Charlotte and Matilda, having their calves within about 24 hours of each other.  Matilda’s calf is a brown and white heifer (girl cow) although we expect that she will go black when she sheds her baby coat.
