FAQ

Can we buy the digital files?

Of course! All prints and specialty art products purchased include the matching high resolution and web size digital file.

Digital files can also be purchased in collections.

What areas do you travel to?
I am located in Boyup Brook and regularly travel to clients throughout Western Australia including Perth, Bunbury, Boyanup, Donnybrook, Bridgetown, Manjimup, Pemberton, Collie, Darkan, Kojonup, Katanning, Williams, Boddington, Narrogin, Cuballing, Pingelly, Brookton, York and surrounding rural communities.
What time of day is best for photography sessions?

Outdoor Sessions: The most beautiful golden light occurs in the last 1.5 hours before sunset.  This is known as the 'golden hour' and is when I prefer to schedule outdoor sessions.  The light is also beautiful in the first 1.5 hours after sunrise.

Black Background Equine Sessions: Can be scheduled at any time if full shade from a shed, stable or covered arena is available

There is some flexibility in timing - depending on location and what you want the photographs to look like, so if late afternoon/evening does not work for you (eg with young children), please contact me to discuss other options.

What should I wear for my session?

This is the one question I get asked the most!  The short answer is whatever you are comfortable wearing, however once you book your session I will send you my comprehensive client guides that contain everything you need to know about preparing for your session, including What to Wear and how to prepare for your session with your family, horse or dog.

I will also go over all the details and answer any questions over the phone during your Planning Consultation before your session.

How many photos will I get to choose from?

The final number of images you will have to choose from will vary depending on the type of session, number of subjects, subject co-operation on the day and other factors.

One hour lifestyle sessions will generally have 40+ final professionally edited images to create your artwork order from.  Studio light sessions will have 20-30 and extended sessions will have more.

What if my horse is naughty or won't stand still?

Don't worry we will still get lovely photos.  If you know your horse is the fractious type, it's a good idea to do some groundwork in the days leading up to your session so that your horse will stand still by your side for just a few seconds at a time.  If your horse is stabled, riding, lunging or paddock exercise several hours before the session is recommended.

What if my dog is energetic or can’t go off lead?
This is not a problem at all! Five border collies are part of our family, so high energy dogs are part of my daily life. Safety is the priority so 98% of dogs are kept on lead for their portrait session and the lead is removed in photoshop! Being able to get your dogs attention for a moment with a treat or a toy is helpful, but your dog does not have to be super obedient - I work with dogs of all levels of obedience and still create beautiful images you will absolutely love!
What happens if it rains on the day of my session?

I book a limited number of sessions each month so that I can give my clients with the best service possible - this includes allowing time in my calendar in case we need to reschedule due to bad weather.  Overcast days are great for outdoor photography sessions, light rain is not usually a problem, but if the forecast is for heavy rain, strong winds or storms I will get in touch a few days before your session to discuss re-scheduling.

Do you photograph pets other than horses and dogs?
I specialise in equine and canine photography but I have photographed many other animals over the years. Living on a farm in a rural area, I regularly photograph livestock including cattle, sheep, goats and poultry both for Fine Art and commercial purposes. I've also photographed lizards, snakes, deer, camels, birds, kangaroos and pet fish.
Do you photograph horse shows?
I have photographed horse events of most discipline since 2007, but as private portrait and commercial photography is my main focus, I now cover fewer equestrian events so I can keep premium weekend time slots available for private clients.
